Hola
Canada! Our dear little Outtatown crew
has recently been surprised with some cold weather. Today we built a snowman,
went bobsledding, and nearly froze to death in an igloo. Oh wait. No we didn’t.
Becaaaaauuuuuusse we are in super sunny Monterrico!!!!!

We are frying our top
layer of skin, being destroyed by ocean waves, playing catch with coconuts and
generally having a fan-freaking-tastic time doing beachy things and loving
life! For the first time since landing here it truly feels like we are in a
tropical country and can be warm all the time. It comes as a nice break from
our somewhat mentally taxing Spanish classes in our beautiful (but
significantly colder) home of San Juan del Obispo.
Life in San Juan has been
relatively normal; we have been working very hard to learn Spanish and our
communication skills have been improving. We are finally at the point where we
can translate for newcomers who speak even less Spanish than we do! We are
already halfway finished our homestays and are starting to realize how fast
this is going and how soon we are going to have to say goodbye to our new
little families.
On Thursday for worship we walked around
to pray for this place that has become our home away from home and we did a
prayer walk. In groups of 3 we walked around and started to pray for the places
and people that have been so much to us. It was a really sweet night where our
group refocused and reset our goals for the year.
Yes,
dear families back home in the cold and snow, life is starting to look very
good. With more wonderful days to come in San Juan, and El Salvador just around
the corner- life is looking very good indeed.
Try
not to get too jealous.
